Cara community worker Clare Mone tells us about the Cara Group's recent trip to Filey.
"Our trip to Filey started with an early meet at the Montague Burton, where everyone was given a goody bag including an all-important bingo pen!
The coach journey didn’t seem long at all because Jamie kept us entertained with games of bingo and couple of tunes from Mary Browne. We had fantastic prizes on offer from chocolates, to biscuits and a few bottles. Not one client went home empty handed, and two clients won the cost of the trip from full house bingo winnings!
As soon as we arrived in Filey, the smell of the sea air hit us. We enjoyed fish and chips followed by ice cream and hot cups of tea in a restaurant on the sea front. Afterwards, we celebrated one of our member's birthdays with a beautiful cake and a birthday sash.
We then had free time to go off and explore the delights of Filey before the coach returned for our journey home. The journey home was much quieter than the journey there as many had a little nap after all the sea air and great food.
We're looking forward to the next Cara outing!"
Feedback from the Cara group:
“I haven't been to Filey since I was a child. I have many fond memories of being here with my family.”
“I never realised the coast was so beautiful. Nearly as beautiful as Ireland.”
“We really enjoyed the game of bingo on the journey - my winnings paid for the cost of the trip!”
“The goody bags were a great idea – you always need plenty of snacks for the journey!”
“The fresh sea air as soon as we got off the coach – nothing like it!”
“There might have been a few downpours, but the sun came out to welcome us! The best part of the trip was the lemon top ice cream – I haven’t had one in years! What a treat.”
would love to join on next trip
