Aran Home Support is a unique service for older people with dementia and memory loss who are living at home. You may have noticed your spouse or parent becoming increasingly forgetful, or you may have just received a diagnosis of dementia. Aran Home Support has been set up to provide a high quality, dementia specific, culturally sensitive service to individuals and families where memory loss and dementia are adversely affecting daily life.
How the service works
Aran Home Support is available from Monday 9am until Friday 5pm, with visits lasting for a minimum of two hours. We understand the impact change can have on an individual with dementia and so we work hard to ensure that our Dementia Home Workers, once matched, will remain with that person for as long as needed. The service caters for those experiencing the mild to moderate stages of dementia and memory loss who wish to remain in their own home. All our workers are kind, caring, trustworthy and of impeccable character.
We will arrange to visit you at home to discuss your requirements and what Aran Home Support can provide. If you decide to go ahead, we will carefully assess your needs and, together, prepare a care plan which will be monitored weekly and reviewed every three months.
What we can help you with
We help the person with dementia or memory loss to retain their memory of how to do the everyday tasks they have been used to doing and enjoy. We do this by finding out about their likes and dislikes, their interests and former hobbies, their work and family life. Through the use of reminiscence and life story we will engage the person with dementia in everyday activities which will help them retain their memory and give them a feeling of independence and a sense of wellbeing. We place the needs of the person with dementia firmly at the heart of all we do, while at the same time, providing peace of mind, and much needed respite to family carers. We will also assist with light housekeeping tasks including meal preparation, baking, laundry, shopping and visits.
