Volunteer and friend of Leeds Irish Health & Homes Tom Brannigan wrote this touching poem depicting the story of immigration from Ireland to Leeds. Heartfelt, inspiring and accurate for many who took the journey across the water and found themselves in Leeds, it will resonate with many.

For Leeds’ first Literature Festival – a collaboration between Leeds Irish Health and Homes, Leeds Beckett’s Dept of Cultural Studies and the Oluwale Charity has led to readings followed in the long and honourbale tradition of rabble rousing, intellectually provoactive and emotially charged poetry that Leeds writers have long been able to produce.
