Aran Home Support
Aran Home Support is a service dedicated to providing specialised support to people living with dementia and memory loss, and their families. The service is best suited to those who are in the early stages of mild to moderate dementia.
What we can help you with
We provide much needed emotional support, information, guidance and advice to families; help reduce isolation and loneliness through befriending and companionship; use reminiscence therapy to improve general well being; and provide a wide variety of practical help including going for walks, food shopping, social outings, light housekeeping and meal preparation.
How the service works
We offer a free assessment visit which takes place at your home and where we will talk through how Aran can support you. Once you decide to go ahead, we will agree a Support Plan with you and review this regularly. We have an open, pragmatic, flexible approach to our work.
The service is available from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. Visits are for a minimum of two hours to begin with and we recommend that these take place weekly for a trial period of around three weeks. Once matched, our Home Worker will support you for as long as is practicable. Our staff are caring, competent, of impeccable character, fully DBS checked, and have first-hand experience of caring for someone with dementia, and/or professional experience. All are trained in Person-Centred Dementia Awareness and Reminiscence Therapy.

“I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you for your support, warmth and advice today in particular (and indeed, to date!)....”

“Hi Paula, it was great to speak with you, I feel that this (Aran) will be a great help to my Mum.”
“Many thanks for this flyer! It was very good to talk to you earlier, and I shall certainly bear Aran in mind if we need to at a future date.”
“Hello Paula, thank you for another lovely conversation this morning, it is clear that you have understood Mum well and can see how she is still able to make her feelings known, but also understand a great deal about dementia, and the resistance that this condition brings to trying new things.”
“Hi Paula, Mum very much enjoyed Teresa's visit on Wednesday & would like to continue.”
“Marilyn left a message today to express her grateful thanks to Paula Cox. She said what Aran is doing is amazing and praised the service she had received.”
“Thank you so much for your invaluable advice and support, we really appreciate it! We'll look through all the information you have sent and be in touch next week.”
““Aran Home Support has been excellent, and has been a huge support both to our dad and to us as his family. It has been a real benefit to know that you have been there helping him to do things while he is able, and being so sensitive and understanding of his needs. My sister and I would both like to thank you immensely for the fantastic care and support you have given our dad.””
